United Methodists and Satan

Mon, 11 Aug 2008 05:48:36 PDT
I just read an interesting article over at the UM Portal. Here's part of it: Though Methodism founder John Wesley talked about Satan in his sermons, the United Methodist Church has no official doctrine on the devil or the demonic. Few Methodist ministers in the U.S., it seems, preach about Satan as a personal being active in the world today... Many United Methodists, for instance, gasped during the 2008 General Conference when an African delegate on the floor argued that homosexuality wa

Mon, 11 Aug 2008 03:40:34 PDT
In today’s modern world apathy is becoming increasingly prevalent. We are constantly and consistently bombarded with all sorts of bad news, leaving many of us with a feeling of indifference and the thinking, “I can’t make a difference” or “I can’t change anything, I am just one person.”

Illdisposed - The Prestige Review

Sun, 10 Aug 2008 22:03:40 PDT
With the exception of doing some cover albums, the Danish death metal band Illdisposed had a long, seven-year gap of new material between 1997 and 2004. Marking their return to the metal scene was 1-800 Vindication. To keep up with current trends, the band incorporated sampling and clean vocals. In an attempt to return to their roots, the...

Sensex and Crude Oil Prices

Mon, 11 Aug 2008 03:39:26 PDT
Crude oil prices seem to be going down on account of sluggish economic situations and consequent decrease in demand. No one is now predicting $200/- per barrel. Today, the market reacted satifcatorily (up by 336 pts) and we have seen steady gains in the past week. I hope that this trend is here to stay. I have lost considerably (nearly 1.5L) since highs of Jan, 2008. However past trends have showed that bear runs usually last for over 14/15 months. That make me gloomy. :(

FBR: Fannie Needs More Capital

Mon, 11 Aug 2008 06:52:55 PDT
Donna Kardos reports: Fannie Mae will need to raise $5 billion to $10 billion in additional capital in order to strengthen its balance sheet for future credit losses and continue to supply liquidity to the mortgage market, said an analyst at FBR Capital Markets. In a note to investors, Paul J. Miller Jr. said the capital will be needed as Fannie is expected to see its credit losses continue to climb, resulting in higher loss provisions in the next three to four quarters until the losses rea
